Since there is no real record of how or when Anne Boleyn and Henry Tudor first met, why don't we create this first encounter for them? Write a scene depicting the first time Anne and Henry saw each other. This can be as factual or made-up as you want! Feel free to take facts and events from the Tudor dynasty to incorporate into your scene, or just let your creativity run wild and make it all up! Since this is a fictional and fun book that you're competing for, there are no real guidelines as it relates to your writing. Just be CREATIVE!
Where were Henry and Anne when they first saw each other? Who else was around to witness it? Did they speak to each other during their first encounter, or did they merely admire each other from afar? Was the attraction one-sided or mutual from the beginning? YOU DECIDE the details and turn it into your own Tudor scene.
I can imagine these scenes will be so much fun to read - I'm already excited about it! I hope you will get excited too and take advantage of the opportunity to practice your Tudor writing, and to take a chance at winning what looks to be a very fun book!
~Unfortunately, Simon & Schuster can only offer three books to American and Canadian entries. If you are from another country and would still like to take part in the competition, please do! If I choose your scene as one of the winners, I will offer a different prize for you!
~There are no word minimums or maximums! Feel free to let yourself go with this prompt.
~Please send your completed scene to me at [email protected] by 11:59pm on JULY 20th!
~Be sure your name is included with your scene once you've emailed it to me. If you are chosen as a winner, I will email you back and ask for your address to send to Simon & Schuster.
The winners of this competition will not only win copies of "Anne of Hollywood," but I will post their winning entries in a special blog post on this website immediately following the competition!
Happy writing, Tudor Enthusiasts! Remember, the competition will end at 11:59 on July 20th!
