While walking around Portland with my mom last week, we found ourselves inside Cross Jewelers' store. Cross is a local jewelry store in Portland, and I have admired their jewelry in the past - although I have never been able to afford it.
Being pretty much obsessed with the Royal Wedding, I was well-aware that Cross had designed a replica of the engagement ring given to Kate Middleton (now Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge), by Prince William. However, I never thought I'd get a chance to see it in person. When I saw it, I immediately ran up to it - Here's a picture of what it looked like in the case.
If you're interested in the ring, be prepared to hand over $45,000 for it. This price, actually, is not much different from what Prince Charles spent when he bought it for Princess Diana of Wales. When it was purchased, it cost him $60,000 - but now with the legacy it comes with, it is estimated to be worth roughly $500,000! Needless to say, I did not walk out with the ring, but I did go back to the shop the following day to try it on once more!
Anyone who is as interested as I am in the Royal Couple, will appreciate this ring! I know there are many replicas - many of them are worth about $20.00 and much more feasible to buy....but this ring is the REAL deal! It is designed exactly like Catherine's ring - rich Sapphire in the center, with 14 small diamonds surrounding it, all laid in a platinum band.
GORGEOUS.
Enjoy the pictures, and if you'd like, check out Cross Jeweler's website with more information on the ring - http://www.crossjewelers.com/products/details.asp?ProductID=973
Here's one last picture of me wearing the ring. It's my "I'm so happy to be wearing this ring, I can't even smile!"
