When Edward was born in early October, it must have been a huge triumph
for Jane - surely knowing that she was the only one of Henry's wives
who had succeeded in giving him what he wanted most. I think there never was a
time that Henry would have been more proud and in love with his wife than for
those few weeks...until Jane tragically died.
As I've said before, Henry was heartbroken. It took him years to remarry, and
even that he did reluctantly. He truly loved Jane, and loved her for different
reasons than he had loved Katherine of Aragon and Anne Boleyn. Jane Seymour was
dutiful, obedient, and kind. She was the perfect Queen and wife fo Henry after
coming out of his scandalous and tumultuous relationship with Anne.
On this day we honor Jane and thank her for giving King Henry VIII what his heart most truly desired! How different history might have been if she hadn't!
Rest in peace!
